Dennis Neirmann has been a LaunchHouse member since 2014. You can find him and his paralegal, Harrison Daman, working in their office at LaunchHouse most days. Dennis is an attorney in State and Federal court, focusing on employment discrimination. To that end, he maintains a “specialist” status in employment law conferred by the Ohio State Bar Association. He serves as a notary, and is available as an expert witness on relevant subjects in employment law. Additionally, Dennis is available for workplace sexual harassment training and speaking engagements.
Dennis received his undergrad degree from John Carroll University, and went on to get his law degree at Cleveland Marshall School of Law. He held many different odd jobs before passing the bar and becoming a lawyer, including working as a steel worker, a milkman, and a gas meter reader. During law school, he served as a probation officer in the inner city. Upon graduating, he was a public defender for two years, but quickly realized he didn’t care for criminal law. Dennis was drawn to employment law, as he felt passionate that no one should be discriminated against in the workplace. Today, he works as a solo-practitioner, and specializes in sexual harassment cases.
If Dennis was to go back in time to 1983, when he started his practice, he would have hired a great paralegal from the start. This is his advice to lawyers who are aspiring to become solo-practitioners. Thanks to the help of Harrision, Dennis has been much more productive and effective than when he was working alone for the first 25 years of his practice.
A fun fact about Dennis is that he met his wife at John Carroll University in English class. “She was gorgeous and knew every answer to every question,” Dennis recalls. They just celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary. He and his wife have a son and a daughter, who are also JCU grads.
When you meet Dennis, be sure to ask him about the book he is publishing next year, My Mother was a Nun. When asked about the meaning behind the title, Dennis explained that his mother intended to be a Catholic nun, and was in the convent until she left to join the military during World War II. Today, she is 99 years old! He looks forward to sharing his story in her book.
Over the past two years, Dennis has made lasting memories and friends at LaunchHouse. He appreciates the environment that LaunchHouse offers, and that it is cost effective. “Plus, it allows me to network and meet new people, which I enjoy as much as practicing law,” he adds. Dennis always looks forward to meeting new members and others from the community during our Lunch & Learn and Happy Hours.
